Refine Equipment is slightly complicated than Equipment Enhancement. Refining requires both Zeny and other materials, depending on the type of equipment and the level of refinement. There are two types of equipment where some could be refined up to +10 while others could be refined up to +15. Kindly check with the Refine NPC for more details (will be shown in lower left side).
You could only Refine Equipment thru NPC at Prontera. Click the NPC and click Refine to open the window.
Then, click the middle and select the equipment that you would like to refine. Upon inserting your equipment, the material needed and zeny required will be displayed (also the maximum refine level).
The Success Rate until refine level +4 will be 100%. There will be chances for failure above +4.
Failure will result in TWO of the possible outcome:
1) Refine level decrease by 1 level but nothing happen to the equipment.
2) Refine level decrease by 1 level and the equipment is broken.
Here is an example of a broken equipment. The red hammer on the top right is an indication of broken equipment. Broken equipment can still be used (equipment stats and effects are unaffected) but could not be refined further.
To repair broken equipment, an identical equipment is needed (normal/non-broken) for refine level +6 and below. It does not require a refined equipment to repair, use whichever is the cheapest you could get.
