Rune system in Ragnarok Mobile is one of the Guild's feature. You will have to do some simple quests in order for you to be able to unlock it. You could find the NPC in Guild Territory at the left side of the map as shown below.
There will be a few NPC at that spot, find the NPC with "Aesir Monument". You will be given a few tests. The tests are fairly simple with some killing and answering questions. If you failed the test, you can simply redo the test. The answer of the tests are very simple, just don't "over-react".
Once you have completed the tests, you will be given an item "Aesir Monument". Click to open the item and you can see your rune tree.
This is the most basic view of the rune tree. You could zoom in/out and choose to show/hide info.
There are basically TWO types of runes, normal runes which add basic stats, and skill runes which improves your certain skills, gives you additional skills or add special stats such as ignore def.
Skill runes will have to consume more Guild contribution as well as Gold Medal. While normal runes only consume Guild contribution.
Each Job/Class will have a unique rune tree, and once you have reach T2 and T3 jobs, your rune tree will expand (after doing more tests).
You need to explore each and every Job's rune tree to match your character's build, in order to fully utilise the rune system. Not all runes are beneficial to your build. For example, pierce build knight will have no benefits from unlocking bash rune.
Once you have targeted a specific rune, you could click "Activate" and it will display the nearest path to the rune. The blue line indicate that you could unlock the runes immediately while the red line indicate that either your contribution or your gold medal is insufficient.
You could also reset the rune tree with a small fee. All your contributions and gold medal will be refunded.
Overall, runes is important for you to build up your damage but is heavily dependent on your skill build. Try to study more about your runes and don't rush it, as the gold medal is still very expensive to obtain.
