Mentor system is a feature to help new players to level up quicker up to level 85.
To be a mentor, you need to be level 85 and above (and completed some simple quests).
To be a student, you need to be level 84 and below. Anyone could be your mentor/student except for your character(s) in the same account. Simply send an invite/request to the person and wait for him/her to accept in friend list.
Being a student provides some extra perks and rewards for you to progress faster. You could access mentor system through a tab below Friend list.
1) Student
Doing daily quests such as Board Quests and Time Rifts will gives you a lot EXP and some zeny.
Doing weekly quests such as Endless Tower and Guild Valhalla's Ruins will gives you a huge chunk of EXP and zeny.
Next will be the rewards. You could get rewards by reaching a specific milestone.
You could get a FREE pet Lunatic at level 30!
Other than Lunatic, you could get FOUR Gold Medals when you reach level 70! Gold medals are valuable materials that could only be obtained through Guild donation quests and it is very costly to obtain (some events also provides little chances to get Gold Medal).
Gold Medal is an essential for you to unlock your runes.
At level 85, you could "Graduate" from your mentor. You will need to do some simple quests at Prontera to graduate and after that, you could do another set of quests to be a mentor yourself!
Upon graduating, you will get 50k zeny and a hat.
2) Mentor
Being a mentor, you will get Mentor Medal when your student(s) complete their daily and weekly quests. You will need to claim the medals manually every day. Mentor Medals could be used to exchange items through Mentor Shop or simply use it.
It is also important to use some items to buff your student(s) everyday.
Adventure Guide will provide your student with 170% EXP gained from monster hunting, lasting for 24 hours.
Guardian Scroll will provide your student with 20 all stats.
Overall, Mentor system is very helpful to both student and mentor (though student get more benefits) and it is completely FREE to use (except for Adventure Guide and Guardian Scroll).
